The media company Gruner + Jahr, the "leading house of content", wants to position its brands even more strongly in the digital world. The aim of the Open House Tour 2013 is to raise awareness for the diversity and attractiveness of the brand world. The tour brings the chief editors of the great titles directly into the cities of media decision makers. The cargo ship 'MS relevance' is set up on the river banks in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Hamburg and invites its guests to get to know the heads behind the titles, and to enjoy the brand world of Gruner + Jahr.

The 245 square metre loader space of the inland freight ship is staged as a Brooklyn loft and filled with abundant content in keeping with the Gruner + Jahr brands. Fresh colours on the floor and walls, selected wallpapers and fabrics, specially constructed wall elements with backlit sprout windows along with room dividers and a custom-made steel shelf restructure the entire loading area. The design provides an attention to detail and integrates the brands in a communicative space concept.

A 210 m² auditorium is built in a presentation area separated from the Brooklyn Loft. Here the moderators Judith Rakers and Yared Dibaba talk with the chief editors in an entertaining presentation of the brands which brings the content and philosophy closer to the guests. The before-and-after comparison of the ship interior sums up the guiding principles: "Content matters!".

We are delighted to have received the Gruner + Jahr Open House Tour award at the German Design Award 2015 and at the Golden Award of Montreux 2014.
